The Devils series is inspired by the traditional diables of Catalan festivals. Hooded cylindrical figures are built in black clay, decorated with white slip and sgraffito patterns that reference the costumes worn by different groups of diables. Their exaggerated faces and gestures give each figure a playful, mask-like character.
Some pieces are designed to hold a sparkler, reinforcing their connection to the fire, movement and theatricality of Catalan street celebrations.
